Area. Most of churches are into the old part of the city or the pro
independence size of the city.
Churches, Cemeteries, the Theological Seminary of Heybeliada (Halki)
controlled by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Istanbul (İstanbul Rum Patriği)
which locates in Fener district.
By keeping the church protocol they still are dioceses such as Antioch,
Bergama, but without parish.
Majority of churches have historical influences from the pro-Byzantine era,
however most of them were built before the Independence of 1923.
They still are many churches like St Irene, Pamakkaristos which they became
muslim mosques during the Ottoman period of Turkey.
